When I search the word 'persistent' on dictionary.com on my BB it states "persisting, esp. in spite of opposition, obstacles, discouragement, etc; lasting or enduring tenaciously; & constantly repeated. Then I search the word 'hope' on my BB You Version Bible (NLT version selected) & it comes up with 167 hits. Next I choose the hit of Hebrews 6:19 to understand that God gives us hope that is a strong & trustworthy anchor for our souls. Hmmm ... put these together & we can understand how to personally respond to Psalm 27:14 ...'Be strong, & let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord'. In our JOG study two weeks ago we read about Anna the prophet & herald. One of the questions was "What can Anna teach me about persistent hope? What value can I find in the words of the Psalmist 27:14" We came up with some of the following as our answers ... persistent hope needs persistent; worship, prayer, fasting or focus, personal sacrifice, feasting on scripture, longing, keeping head/heart/mind aware of living in the world not of the world & sharp to spiritual matters, etc, etc.
